November 6, 2002 the City Ordinance 060-02 was approved "prohibiting the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession, or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Davao City", it has been 11 years now and already used to celebrate New Year without firecrackers but instead using 'TOROTOT' as a form of making Sound and Noise...and now, from December 31, 2013 @ 1pm to January 1, 2014 @ 1 am along Roxas Avenue, Davao City will be celebrating New Year for the first time with this "1st Torotot Festival" aiming to break Japan's Record of 6,900 participants in the Guinness Book World of Records expecting about 10,000 participants and more...there will be "FREE" torotots will be given and prizes as well for those 'Creative, own-made Torotots'. Prizes from 10,000 (3rd place); 15,000 (2nd Place) & 25,000 pesos (1st Place) for the individual participants and for the Barangay participants for the most number of participants blowing the torotot, they will receive 20,000 (3rd place); 30,000 (2nd place) & 50,000 pesos (1st Place).
